Redefining Rape

Free Republic did not have much to say about the whole fracas over Republicans trying to to cut out drugging, date rape and statutory rape exceptions to the "no Federal funding of abortion" policy.

I think abortion on the right is kind of like gun control on the left - still a principle, but something they stay quiet about in the current political climate. Because despite Freepers' clear enthusiasm for the subject, I had a hard time finding much to talk about this on Free Republic, despite hearing all about it from my friends and on the more liberal blogs on my blogroll.

But, long story short, I totally found some quality victim blaming, so here it is:

Lazamataz creates an epic strawman:
According to Democrats, "Rape" is what a fetus does when existing in the womb. Therefore, all pregnancy is rape
henkster musta been an awesome prosecutor, what with how he treats women like children:
I was a prosecutor for 18 years; these cases crossed my desk more often than you could guess. None of them got filed in Court. You do not get “raped” by a boyfriend you still live with. Sorry ladies, but “rape” is a big grown up word with big grown up consequences (like the sex offender registry) and it should not be cheapened like that.
MNDude would also like to assume that all non-forcible rape is trivial, and uses an example:
a woman walks into a pawn shop and hands the worker a diamond ring. After inspecting it, the jeweler says “I’m sorry, but this is not a real diamond.”

The woman screams “Call the police! I’ve just been raped!”
Mrs. Don-o brings the woman's perspective:
How 'bout this:
Leave the baby alone.

Crush the rapist.
Huh. Seems to have left out the Mom in this solution of hers.

OlLine Rebel knows the victims were all asking for it anyway:
They’re not “ladies” if they’re !%#!@$#@ing around.

All these problems would be moot if we all kept our legs together and stopped the immorality that leads to these babies and rapes (real or not).
