Game Changer

FreeperFan got there before me, but the entire right wing blogosphere is losing their shit over this. Delicious.

Romney has been studiously pretending his governorship of Massachusetts never happened, except for some awesome job numbers.
Until now, when his spokesman used Romneycare's health coverage to respond to an Obama ad.

I guess Romney thinks the right hates Obama enough already, so it's time to roll moderate?

Anyhow, Freepers are....less than pleased. So I am more than amused

Eva makes a weak attempt to blame the messenger:
This Andrea Saul, also supports climate change. I’m wondering if she is really a Democrat. She is really dangerous.
EternalVigilance goes with the eternal call of American partisans of all stripes:
The GOP is dead. The sooner conservatives face up to that the sooner we can get about the business of saving the republic.
THIRD PARTY WOOOOOOOOOO!

soycd doesn't even have the enthusiasm to try to sell his conspiracy theory:
I am convinced there are democrat operatives running Mitt’s campaign. That or they are simpleton morons.
MarkL kjust accuses the "powers that be" and retreats into his shell:
If this really happened, then it's obvious that the Romney campaign really doesn't want to win, and a second Obama term has already been set in stone by "the powers that be." That the end of the USA has already occurred, and we just haven't noticed it yet.
isthisnickcool would like to misinterprate Obama's ad:
Anyone should be able to beat Obama but Romney gets accused of MURDER and he does not stand up mad as hell about it himself? This is McCain redux. I’m pi$$ed!
Bewteen this ad and Fast and Furious, Freepers really have some issues with causality, don't they?

ejonesie22:
Republicans are definitely the STUPID PARTY! Get rid of the Socialists in your campaign, Mitt!!!!! NOW!!!

He himself would have to step down to do that...
Zing!

Varsity Flight knows Romney is the Republican Hillary always strove to be.
This IS the Hillary wing of The Government Big”Bank”-InsuranceParty.

HillaryRomney.
xzins Is just rocking back and forth "this isn't real, this isn't real!."
What I am witnessing is not real.

They didn’t just come out in favor of big government health care, did they???

And gay boy scouts

and gun control

and gay couples

and gay adoption

This is your brain on drugs.

  1. Romney has got to find a way to step up his game or he going to lose this thing.

The hilarious thing is, they're not angry that Romney's the father of Obamacare. They're angry that he forced them to remember it while they were trying so hard to forget. They want to pretend it's all about principles, but they would've happily let Romney's "socialism" slide as long as they didn't have to hear anything more about it, ever.

It's like their mom knocking on the door when they're in the middle of jerking themselves off—it totally ruins the fantasy.

Romney has got to find a way to step up his game or he going to lose this thing.

"Romney's game" is as stepped up as it's capable of getting. He's not only supremely unlikeable and dishonest, but he's also way too stupid, arrogant and entitled to know it. And the people who are content to work for him are -- surprise! -- even stupider and more venal than he is. Come October, I doubt there'll be enough left of Mitt to bury.

    Pass the fucking popcorn.

    1. I talk to my Texas relatives and they are not enthused. Texas will vote for Romney but they'd rather use butt wipe with splinters, given a choice. How does that translate to the swing states?

In the interest of full disclosure, I bet on Romney back in May. It was a double or nothing bet, last time I bet Obama and won, but I thought I had a 50/50 chance when I made the bet. Romney is running a piss poor campaign. There goes $600.

    2. Ah, you should have talked to me first. I could have saved you $600. I've been predicting Obama will win in November since January. Even back then I could see the writing on the wall.

    3. *Checks the polls* Yeah, he's ahead in the polls. Sounds like he is going to need some overtime magic from his witchdoctors.

  3. I try to maintain a saving pessimism about politics so I don't get too invested, and therefor disappointed if things go wrong, but that's getting increasingly difficult to maintain.

Ohh, if Obama wins, that day on Free Republic will be EPIC!

    1. Actually, I think that by the time the election rolls around, Freepers will be so used to the fact that Obama will win that they will be too numb for much rage. I predict that most of the posts you see will be along the lines of, "At least we can now run a real conservative in 2016," or "I told you all along that Romney was a bad candidate."

Oh sure, you'll get a few apocalyptic screamers here and there, and of course there will be the "RIP America" posts, but I think at this point it will be largely subdued.

Not possible. The key to FReeper psychology is that they want Obama to win. They want him to win and take everyone's guns or herd Christians into camps or what have you so that their worldview will be validated and -- more important -- so that they can indulge their fantasy of being heroes (instead of elderly authoritarian cowards). They want to see massive civil conflict and bloodshed in their lifetime so they can cheer it from the sidelines.

Doesn't matter if he wins by a little or a lot. It's proof of cheating either way, the Republic is dead and the Revolution is now mandatory! Lather, rinse, repeat.

In other words, don't make the mistake of thinking their rage is like yours or mine. It doesn't make them feel bad. It makes them feel good. They're like lab rats stimulating their own pleasure centers, and they'll keep at it until they've burned out the last few neurons in their skulls.

    My opinion, anyway.

    1. That makes sense. You're probably right. They've been talking excitedly about Civil War 2 since before Obama lowered his hand from taking the oath.
