Confused about the Sequester

Freepers are of two minds about the sequester - on the one hand the Government is bad, and hurting it is good. On the other, Obama is screwing up the government on accounta being so evil.

Unlike their usual penchant for doublethink, individual Freepers are holding only one of the above two positions in their minds, and attacking all who hold the other.

FlyingEagle blames it all on Obama.
The same folks who went golfing with Tiger Woods in Florida and skiing in Aspen over Presidents day weekend are the ones responsible for this hardship.
cripplecreek knows the economy is a zero-sum game:
Things are going to get a whole lot worse for people drawing a federal paycheck. They have to if we ever intend to see the private sector thrive again.
mnehring knows there's still room to cut, as the Obama still have money to spend:
Has anyone asked what funding cuts will take place at NPR, PBS, NEA, etc? Will the NEA be cutting back on any art funding? What about cuts to Michelle’s dress designers, gardening staff, or 90 assistants? How about POTUS’s golf caddy? Will the President save taxpayer money by enrolling his girls in public schools?
I wonder if Freepers will ever address the millions Obama has from his books, or continue to assume all his money comes from the Presidency.

sarasmom thinks government employees can suck it.
You can always quit and find another job, right?

Frankly, I can’t drum up any sympathy for “government employees” at this point.

Your hours wouldn’t be cut if you were “essential”, and if you are not “essential”, why are you employed by the government?

Uncle Sugar ran out of money. Talk amongst yourselves.
Deathtomarxists is bitter about how well off her federally employed relatives are.
Got laid off in 08 and been scrapping ever since while watching my relatives and friends who work for the feds doing great, getting significant raises, taking tons of vacation I never got in private sector and generally not doing much work. People here can hate me but I have zero sympathy for the fed employees. They are getting just a tiny tiny sample of what the rest of us have endured the past 4 years.
cherry also feels government employees all have it super easy:
look federal workers....you get paid too much...you have too many benefits and God knows way too big a pension...

but its not going to kill anybody to have an extra day off....I'd enjoy it....like a snow day....

just think....more 3 day weekends to enjoy with your other multitude of 3 day weekends....
RFEngineer knows you never hear private employees complain. I suspect he never reads Free Republic.
Nobody expects a complete solution. This one is a fake solution to be sure, but the hysterics of the bureaucracy and those entrenched within are so shrill and blood-curdling that next time nobody will pay any mind to the complaints.

The government, and the bureaucrats could have faced this honestly and directly. Instead they lie, they obfuscate and they pretend it’s the end of the world.

It’s not. You don’t hear the laments of the private sector layoff. Only government. We don’t need to hear the deafening whine of federal workers who, despite the poster of the thread’s insistence, will likely be paid in full anyway.
JohnKinAK knows it's only hard for the private folks:
Like I’m gonna cry for some under-worked over-paid Govt Slackers! Try being a small business man with this Regime’s daily harassment. The best damned thing that can happen for this country is to have all Fed so-called workers go home for permanently.
napscoordinator explains you only get to envy liberal federal employees:
The typical Government worker maybe but you don't have a single sympathy for your fellow FRiends here on Free Republic at least. Now you know for a fact that the conservatives working for the Federal Government are not the problem and that they put in a full days work and are not the slacker types. Just a thought...
Kickass Conservative wonders why ending the Iraq war hasn't pauid down the debt yet:
That reminds me. The Libtards have been complaining about the “off Budget”, (like there was a Budget LOL), expense of the TWO Wars.

Well, we're out of Iraq and we reduced Troop strength in Afghanistan, so where is all that money the Libtards said we were spending? Why is there a Deficit with all this previously wasted money saved?
