And then a step to the right

An Anonymous commenter found the thread on actor Tim Curry's stroke. Freepers seem surprisingly receptive to the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Perhaps its tone of mild insanity speaks to them.

ansel12 explains the appeal:
Rocky Horror isn’t a movie that you can just rent and check it out, you have to be in a receptive mood, to let it all wash over you.
autumnraine got her kid into it:
My 11 year old can recite every line, song, word for word. She is requesting to go the local movie theater that does the interactive midnight showings for her 12th birthday. I think I may allow it this year. She wants to go as Little Nell.
Will Travel knows how to meet women!
For more than a year, I worked as an usher and concession stand worker in a movie theater that showed the Rocky Horror Picture Show every Friday and Saturday night at midnight. That was either my senior year in high school or my freshman year in junior college; 1977 or 1978.

For years afterward, I could still remember the dialogue and lyrics word-for-word from that whole show. I knew all the audience participation parts and could do THE TIME WARP with the best of them.

Talk about a great job for a young guy trying to meet women...
little jeremiah, needless to say, does not approve of entertainment in general:
Whatever people take in with their senses affects them. Junk food affects the body adversely; nutritious healthy food strengthens and nourishes the body. Simililarly, junk entertainment (so-called) coarsens the dulls and agitates the mind, while uplifting and meaningful or at the least harmless entertainment informs, uplifts, cheers or deepens thoughts in the mind. Textbooks that are fact based help inform the mind, propaganda disguised as truth distorts and twists the mind.

Same with with the eyes - all the senses get “fed” with their respective “food” - either healthy or junk, it all affects levels of the mind and emotions.

When a person perpetually eats junk food, simple healthy foods become tasteless, and everything has to be increasingly saturated with artificial colors, flavors, MSG type flavor enhancers, and so on. Similarly, when what the eyes/ears take in via movies, music, entertainment, TV and so on is increasingly perverted, crude, disjointed, sickening violent, barbaric and so on the mind finds simple, upllifting, meaningful or harmfless fun type entertainment “boring”. People develop the taste for hardcore crap by watching and listening to it.

Advertisers know this, the purverors of filth and perversion know it, the commies and fags know it. That’s why they use specific techniques to get their messages across. Why don’t people get it? Because they want to dabble in crap thinking they’re immune?
Kevmo is also shocked, and tries to prove that it's the worst movie in history.
***Pushing homosexuality, debauchery and cannibalism are popular among freepers. I simply never thought I would see the day.

It is childish to keep pretending that it is “officially the worst movie in history”

***No, it is childish to think that this is a good movie that people want to see over & over again because it’s such a magnificent storytelling event like Star Wars. These people are standing in line so they can throw rice & toast and mock the movie. They don’t do that at Star Wars or Mary Poppins or “Gone with the Wind” or various classics. They will engage in such activity when they watch Mystery Science Theatre 3000 or other mocking fests. This movie is the worst POS ever to hit the market.
FatherofFive knows it's really a conservative movie.
Low budget, but not crappy. Tim Curry singing 'Sweet Transvistite' is a great song. I love the 'Time Warp'

The movie also has great conservative values. Frank's sexuality and lifestyle is 'too extreme' and he is removed from office and executed. A revolution to restore a conservative order.

Or, this being the 21st and not the 10th century, all people can help "possesed" people get mental health treatment and medication, which will probably work much better.
Maybe, maybe not. When a person is speaking foreign languages they never learned, levitating, showing superhuman strength, vomiting up nails, frogs, lizards, and other objects they could not have swallowed, we have gone beyond simple mental illness. Take some time to study up on this matter, the link I posted in my previous post is a good start. And read Father Amorth's book "An Exorcist Tells His Story."

  2. It's not like believing in possession is that weird. As long as you don't attribute normal illness to demonic activity I don't see anything wrong with it.

    1. "Normal illness" huh?

Attitudes like that keep people from getting help for their depression, schizophrenia, etc. Did you know that people with "dissociative identity disorder" routinely self-identify as demons?

    2. Mental illness is normal illness.

  3. little jeremiah, especially among freepers, has trouble discerning reality from fantasy.

For her, there is no fiction (she has often mentioned how she "hates" fiction books), her brain perceives everything as factual.

  4. I like the part where "FatherofFive" hopes that Obama will soon be put away by his own Islamocommunist puppetmasters, the same way the Transylvanians take care of Frank at the end of the movie. If you're going to claim RHPS is a conservative parable, you might as well take the analogy all the way, right? It's like the delicious cherry on top of a sundae of lunacy.

  5. I always assumed Freepers would get strung out
    By the way I look
That they would judge a book by it's cover
    I'm not
Much of a man by the light of day
But at night I'm one hell of a lover.

    Get better Tim.
